Amazon.com Product Description BlueAnt's V1 is the world's first voice-controlled Bluetooth headset, allowing you to control most phone functions from the headset thanks to the integrated BlueGenie Voice Interface. Talk to it and it will reply, ask it for assistance and it will assist you in getting the right function. This amazingly small and lightweight headset eliminates the combinations of button pushes, button holds and flashing lights synonymous with advanced Bluetooth devices. One activation button provides you with total control of the V1's entire function menu system via an easy to use voice interface.
Control your phone's functions--including answering and making call--with the BlueAnt V1. | No longer will you have to deal with lengthy or confusing button pressing to access functionality on your cell phone. Instead, the V1 can be controlled with simple phrases like "pair headset," "call home," "volume up" and "accept call." And BlueGenie's voice synthesis capability enables the V1 to speak back to you, letting you know device settings including successful pairing of the headset, battery power level, and more. With voice dial and call answering capabilities, drivers can keep their hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road. The V1 also incorporates dual microphones allowing for BlueAnt's patented Voice Isolation Technology, a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) software solution that uses advanced techniques to separate the user's voice signal from all other sounds, enhancing and isolating all frequencies that affect voices coming into and out of the headset. This results in outstanding environmental noise reduction, echo cancellation and wind noise protection. The BlueAnt V1 works with Bluetooth version 2.1 and its multi-point technology allows connecting two cell phones at the same time. Automatic reconnect also finds the last cell phone or device paired, and automatically reconnects. It includes several ear gels for an optimal in-ear fit, as well as an over-the-ear clip for added security. It also offers an innovative tie clip lets you attach the V1 headset to your shirt or cuff when not in use. Features - Bluetooth 2.1

Great sound both in and outgoing, needs a firmware update. November 19, 2008 I've had my V1 for a few weeks, and I love the sound quality, as well as the ease of pairing with my Blackberry Curve. Battery is very good. It works just as advertised. BUT...
I would like to see a firmware update that allows me to:
1. Permanently turn off the LED light (right now you have to navigate into a separate spoken menu every time you turn it off...and that light is BRIGHT). 2. Arrange speed dials as I choose, not buttons 1 through 10 - in the Blackberry, my speed dials are attached to QWERTY letters, not numbers - so the V1's speed dial is useless to me.
BlueAnt's website is much less well designed than their products. Strange.
Other than those little nitpicks, I wholly recommend the V1.
V1 with the iPhone. A great BT headset! November 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased the V1 after going without a BT headset for about 6 months. And I missed having one. My original bt headset was from plantronics, and while I liked the headset overall, I didn't like how flashy the LED was (HEY LOOK AT ME! I'm wearing a dorky headset) and it would often fall out of my ear. When the V1 is compared to other headsets, you'll find that it is typically in even comparison with the stylish Jawbone. Due to the V1's sound clarity and voice control, I'm sure it would have been no contest if the V1 were more stylish. As a guy that cares little about style, I believe the V1 is the right choice.
I'm going to try and skip what you probably already know about the headset (oooOOOooo voice control) and inform you on what I was curious about before I bought the V1. First, the foam ear piece does block out noise almost as if you were wearing earplugs (and as a pilot, I know ear-plugs), this does not bother me one bit, however the sound is not as clear as when used with the black earpiece, as the earplugs muffle the sound. Another problem with the earplugs is that they are too large for me to fit in me ear, the Audiologist who molds my earpieces will be the first to tell you I have very small ear canals, so for you normal sized ear canal persons, this shouldn't be a problem, but the mumbled sound may be a slight problem.
I bought the V1 hoping that I would not have to use the ear hook. Which would be possible if I were to use the earplugs. But to achieve clearer sound quality, I will make the trade off and use the ear hook. The clear plastic loop is a good touch by BlueAnt. From 20 feet away it is nearly invisible, 5 feet it is still fairly obvious.
As I mentioned before my plantronics had a very flashy LED that I disdained, the V1 also has this flashy blue/red LED with an option to turn it off (thank you BlueAnt), however once powered down the V1 resets this LED off value and you must turn the LED function off once again when turned back on, the 'sensitivity level' (low, med, high) function however, does continue to hold its value. The V1 has the ability to perform future firmware upgrades through the computer, and I hope that the LED disable function is changed in the near future to remain off on resets (currently I could not find any available firmware upgrades).
Using it with the iPhone is another non-event, took 5 seconds to pair. A few reviewers were mad the iPhone does not support voice dialing. OH Cry me a river, I would never use this function if it were available. The V1 supports 8 user defined voice commanded favorite options, defined under "Favorites" on the iPhone, more than good enough for me. Pushing the headsets button prompts V1 to say "say a command" (something that is easily disabled [thank you again BlueAnt], when disabled, a short beep is heard) then all you do is say "Call speed dial nine" or "call home" or whatever. To cancel a call you double press the headset's button.
The headset is very light, it is small enough that I forget I am wearing it most times, it doesn't fall out, the LED light can be turned off, the sound is VERY clear, and even though I didn't buy it for the voice command ability, I am very satisfied with the recognition, and the voice ability has become surprising useful.
Turns Itself Off 15 per day! November 14, 2008 I thought this headset would be great but was disappointed. It will turn itself off many times throughout the day/night/evening/morning....bla bla... I was told by BlueAnt that it does not work as well with some phones like LG (LG is one of the most popular brands on the market......). If I hit the end button on my phone, it will power the headset off. This is an LG/BlueAnt issue. I do not know how it would function with another brand of cell phone but I have been ready to through it out the window of my car numerous times (If I would not get arrested for littering, I would have done it by now). BlueAnt, you let me down.
Voice control that works November 11, 2008 Great product. It actually works and is light weight. Sound quality is great and earpiece design is really comfortable (at least for my ear).
Set-up is super easy, just place headset in your ear and turn it on. It instantly walks you through the set-up process. You can also ask it "what can I say?" or "teach me" and it tells you exactly what to do.
The best one I've owned so far.
Works great on the iPhone 3G November 4, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
went shopping for a new Bluetooth headset for my iPhone 3G and was overwhelmed by the number of different types that were available. I wanted to find one that that was comfortable to wear, had great sound, good looks and was reliable. When I spotted the BlueAnt V1 voice control model I was skeptical based on prior experience with previous voice dialing phones and programs I have used in the past. Because Apple chose not to include voice dialing I felt I had to give the V1 a try. I had it up and working making my first call in a few minutes and it worked perfectly. I did have to rearrange my "favorites" list to match the order the voice dialer required, but that was easy. I love the feature where you are verbally given the number of the person calling before you make up your mind if you want to answer or ignore the call. I tried the GOOG-411 feature and found it to work well. Good thing since my On Star unit in by car is now obsolete. I searched for a local restaurant and was connected using a voice command. This is a great feature if you are driving and need to find a business and call while driving. I really appreciate the fact that an adaptor is included that allows you to use a standard USB cable for charging. The unit is very light weight and if you use the included foam ear tips it stays in even while jogging. I would highly recommend product based on my experience.
