THE GLYDE IS A NON-SINSITIVE PHONE.TRUST ME I HAVE ONE.THEY ARE NOT HEAVY BUT HAVE A TOUCH SCREEN AND A KEYPAD ON THE SIDE.IT IS A VERIZON PHONE.IT HAS A WONDERFUL TOUCHSCREEN PLUS KEYPAD!!I HOPE THAT THIS ADVICE CONVINCES YOU TO GET A WONDERFUL,OUTSTANDIG GLYDE!!
A Disaster from jump.... October 20, 2008 From the moment I took it from the box, it's been nothing but a mess. The touch feature is awful, sometimes it takes a lot of pressure, other times very little, the phone kept powering off, it was very counter-intuitive, I couldn't tell how to do most anything with it.
The little flap that swivels away from the A/C input feels flimsy & cheap, and will probably twist itself off in no time. I had to charge the phone about every other day, as it wasn't able to hold a charge, despite my rarely using it. Now I have to send it back to Verizon, which leaves me without a working phone, and I sure hope they don't even think about charging me any kind of fee, as this has been nothing more than a royal pain.
Is quality control for cell phones really this dramatically erratic, creating these user reviews where about half say it was awful, just terrible, and half say it's great, they love it? How can anyone make an informed decision when reviews are so equally polarized?
Stay Away! Samsung Was Not Ready For a Touch Screen October 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I returned this phone after 2 days of use because of the overall poor design. The touch screen is terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE. The back button would not even respond correctly without a delay. The display did this as well in the store and I thought it was just beaten up by customers.
The contacts list is the absolute worst feature on the phone. You can very easily call someone by accident, which happened every time I used it. I can't even go on because I don't want to think about it. How Samsung could release this phone "as is" is beyond me. I'm glad Verizon took it back with no questions because I thought I was stuck with it for 2 years.
Do not buy without testing it in the store. If you have any doubts just stay away.
First week - not so bad October 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've read all of the reviews and seen demos of the phone on CNet and other sites. I have to say after my first week i'm still impressed with the phone. I've never owned a phone with a touch screen, always been a flip guy but wanted to give it a try without breaking the bank. I know the iPhone and other products are rated higher but this to me is a decent starter. The touch interface has worked almost 99% pefectly. It takes a lot of getting used to, and having greasy fingers makes it nearly impossible to use. Is this the same case for other type of phones? The shortcuts menu is a little lame. I'd rather have access to those items direclty on the main touch screen. When in a call the phone locks it's touch screen, i'm already a pro at clicking the button to unlocking and moving around during a call. yes it's annoying but at least it works. I'm not huge into browsing the web and getting all my email on the phone. It works but if I wanted to do it 24x7 i'd get a blackberry. SMS and the keypad work great. Photo and video taking are also easy, the camera seems to lag a little when you click the button, again it just takes getting used to. Overall like i said i'm impressed. Hoepfully it'll keep working.
Such a disappointment! October 6, 2008 All I had was problems with this phone after the first week of having it. The phone started freezing and I would have to shut it off and back on again. I would try to push the dial pad button and the bottom row of shortcut keys would get pressed somehow. I would try to send a text message and it would hit cancel. The worst was when I was on the phone with my college and I had to enter in an extension and it wouldn't let me push the right buttons. I had to deal with trying over and over again for 45 mins until I almost through the phone out the window. I finally used my friends cell phone to call Verizon and demand an upgrade. They gave me a deal on the DARE and I am so happy to be rid of that stupid phone.
Do yourselves a favor and do not buy this phone. It seems all great the first week and then the problems set in. I have the Dare now and I love it. The touch screen is soooo much better than the glyde.
