Nice Phone But Takes Some Time Getting Used To. July 24, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have this phone and was debating on whether to exchange it or not for something a little simpler. I decided to keep it because it's that "candy bar" style, no sliding or flipping up to use and am happy with it for the most part. It took some time getting used to. I don't like the fact that there is no "back" button. I love the touch screen. I find myself trying to use the touch screen on my husbands phone (Blackberry 8110) or my kids (LG Shine). Battery life is pretty good. I had a Samsung M300 and that thing needed charging every day. I charge this about every 4 days. One thing I discovered is the my ringer volume got softer/low after about a month. At first I thought it was my imagination. I could've sworn it was louder than what it was. Even on the highest level I could barely hear it. After researching from other users, I took out the battery and re-inserted. Now that's the ringer volume that I remember having. It saved me a trip to AT&T.
Love my Centro!! July 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a simple-phone person and was quite hesitant to take on this smart phone. However, it has proven to be the best phone purchase I have made yet. I have never loved a phone quite like this one.
The dual option of touch-screen and button navigation is great and it even comes with a handy Palm pen. I also love that you do not have to fiddle with wires to connect it to your computer. It transfers all data through Blue Tooth technology and is compatible with MAC OSX. It's light for what it is and stylish.
My only complain is that sometimes it takes a while to "think" between applications. But it's an every-so-often thing so it doesn't bother me that much.
Overall I am very happy with the purchase of this phone and the PDA plans through AT&T are quite affordable for this smart device. I would prefer this over Blackberry, and maybe even as a great alternative to the iPhone.
My issues July 9, 2008 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
Just returned this pretty little phone after 29 days...the things I did not like...1. Palm OS instead of the Windows Mobile I was used to, although I have never paid for or used the internet options, my prior phone was one of the first Smart Phones....when I pick up a phone with Windows it just feels comfortable. 2. No back key...arghhh I found myself having to head back to square one which I found very frustrating...when I returned it I was told if I hit DONE that served as a back key...who knew??? ...did not have the opportunity to play with the done key. 3. Very small battery life it needed to be charged most every night and I am NOT a big cell phone user...old one went 3 or more days by comparison. 4. GPS set up required additional hardware that the sales person knew nothing about. On the plus side it is pretty, mine was white and I smiled whenever I looked at it...Although I don't text and the keyboard being Quirty was "different" I liked the feel of the keys...they are nicely rounded and I felt easy to use. It was 3 weeks before I went back to the manual and learned the vibrate switch was a simple push on the slider at one end of the phone...I went through SO many menus looking for that option..I mean when you need it you need it...so that is a very cool application. I read somewhere I could organize the order of the buttons on the screen but never learned how...would have prefered to have the ones I used regularly on the first screen...I actually liked the voice dial feature since my prior phone which also did not allow it to be done through Bluetooth had the option hidden under several keys...this one is very simple to use...bottom line is I know I am going to miss it and the iPhone I am going to try next has negatives also...such as NO voice dial at all as I understand it, and again a different OS than I am used to...
Wow. July 7, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Pros: Touch Screen EVERY KEY IS FULLY PROGRAMMABLE Lightweight Full keyboard Attractive design Friendly User Interface Crystal Clear Speaker phone IR Port Decent camera (for a cell phone) Silent on/off switch on the top
Cons: Fairly weak battery life Cheap feeling battery cover Finicky hold key Spare Styluses are difficult to find
This phone is phenomenal. I purchase a new cell phone every 3 months, and this is the best phone I have had in almost three years. Don't let the reviews of the "small keyboard" turn you off. With this phone you just have to dive in. I was surprised that now I actually make fewer mistakes with this phone than I made on my KRZR, Shine, RAZR, ROKR, Sony Ericsson W580i, and even on the Iphones that I have played with. Not only does this phone have a FULL keyboard, but it is also touch screen. I HIGHLY recommend this phone to anyone, from the fashionista, to the new cell phone user.
Good buying!
Great phone with small issues June 14, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
First off...I really love this phone. The features are great and I am not planning on returning it. But there are 2 issues that people should be aware of before they buy: 1.) You cannot voice dial with your blue tooth. You must use the phone for voice dial. 2.) Downloaded ring tones only ring once and do not repeat. This can be a problem if you do not hear the ring the first time. You have to download a particularly long ring tone if you plan on using music tones.
