Product Description Sliced thin. This super thin camera phone comes loaded with Bluetooth Wireless, real music ringtones, Mobile IM and email, picture messaging, and more.
Amazon.com Product Description The next generation of last year's highly popular Slice, the Kyocera Super Slice VM1450 is a trim, candy bar-style handset that boasts the slimmest profile in Virgin Mobile's stable. It's also one of the first handsets available from Virgin Mobile with Bluetooth wireless connectivity for communication headsets. This affordably stylish phone also features a VGA camera with 3x zoom, speakerphone, and mobile IM and email capabilities (via AOL and Yahoo!). It runs on the 1900 MHz CDMA network with Virgin Mobile's prepaid service, which requires no annual contract.
Super slim at just .039 inches thin, the Super Slice is packed with Bluetooth connectivity, IM chatting via AOL and Yahoo!, and a VGA camera. | Virgin Mobile Service With Virgin Mobile, you pay only for the calling time you use. You can choose a plan that's based just on minutes (with rates between 10 and 20 per minute) or a monthly plan with no annual contract (with select plans offering unlimited calling on weekends and after 7 PM on weekdays). You can also choose from a variety of mobile messaging plans, which includes text and picture messaging, email, and IM (via AOL and Yahoo!). Virgin Mobile USA's national coverage is powered by the nationwide Sprint PCS network. Virgin Mobile contributes 5 percent of profits from downloadable content to The RE*Generation, its pro-social initiative to help homeless teens, as well as provides postage-paid return envelopes in every new package for customers to recycle old phones. Phone Features Measuring just 0.4 inches deep with a height of 4.4 inches and width of 1.9 inches--about the width of a standard business card--the Super Slice is light on the pocket as well as the wallet, weighing a mere 2.5 ounces. The front of the phone includes a numeric keypad, four-way navigation, send/end keys, and two softkeys. The camera lens is found on the back of the phone, while the charging port and earjack for optional wired headset are found on either side. Because the Super Slice is Bluetooth enabled, wireless communication headsets can be configured with the phone. It also incorporates a jack for an earphone as well as a speakerphone for total hands-free operation. The Super Slice utilizes Qualcomm's CMX-enabled ring tones and screensavers, which support popular audio (MIDI, QCP, MP3, PMD, CMX) and image (PNG, JPG, GIF87, BMP) formats, all of which can be viewed on bright 1.8-inch color display (which supports 65K colors). The Super Slice covers the messaging basics with support for sending and receiving text messages easily and quickly (Virgin Mobile text messaging charges apply). The phone fully supports Virgin Mobile's wireless content service, VirginXtras. Use the pay-per-use service to download ringtones, get content and vote in TV-based polls via the MTV area of your phone, or get jokes and updates from Comedy Central. Pick a celebrity voice to answer your voicemail, or get a Sponge Bob thought of the day. You can even use the phone to help identify the song that's currently playing on the radio or in the restaurant you're dining at. Press the Song ID command, point your phone towards a song that's playing in the room, and within minutes a text message appears identifying the song's title. Other features include: - 64 MB of internal flash memory

Red Super Slice December 26, 2008 I have the red one just ordered when they went up on line at the 49 price as well: I'm more than thrilled to find out all the features with this upgrade and my friends say my pix look great sent to them on other carriers no problems. I had no idea it has speaker phone too so plus there. I'm very happy w/ the price and knowing I have a 1 year free wnty replacement or if I lose it only 7.99 to replace it during that year. I know these things.... I'm on my 4th phone now with them and they've really bent over backwards to help me with any of my accounts.
I like the total control of the the accounts via the web I don't even have to call and have always been paperless. Just can't get over how thin this phone is. I've owned portables since 1990's and had a NECP901 that was my fav now I have a new candy bar fave. anyhue: I am partial...with a slight addiction to anything cellular.
If you don't have another choice, I suppose it will do. November 25, 2008 The phone itself is thin, light and comfortable to use. However, as soon as I got it out of the packaging and turned it on, it froze and I had to restart. I had this problem then entire life of my phone but otherwise it worked well enough. I bought it for mobile IM and email more than anything and it worked great. However, all of those lock up and freezes eventually caused my phone to crash and lose not only my stored date and information, but all of my paid for content like ringtones, games and wallpaper. When I called Virgin Mobile about it, I was bounced around for about a month, told they would refund and replace my phone and then told I wasn't getting anything except the exact same phone. The phone rep told me that the Super Slice is pretty well known for crashing and they haven't bothered fixing the problem. VM wouldn't refund my money for the content because they said there was no proof it had been on my phone and I eventually had to start yelling after the 20th+ phone call to get anywhere. They comped a free phone(another slice) and I had less problems with it. All in all, the phone worked great when it worked, Virgin Mobile is terrible at support and service, but for the money I guess it isn't too bad. I recently sent my slice through the washer so I'm looking at replacing it with the Wildcard. I just hope it works better.
Perfect PHONE for People Who Make Phone Calls August 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my first phone purchase, ever. Every other phone that I had for the last 15 years has been provided by my employer. I wanted a simple, easy to use phone, and the Super Slice has been great.
1. Phone reception and voice quality have been great.
2. Very small and light - easy to carry in your pocket.
3. Basic features including voice memos (missing from the iPhone).
4. Phone service plan is very inexpensive.
Yes, this phone does have limitations, but you have to consider that you're only spending $50. I've had my share of Blackberries and other phones with various problems described in other reviews (phone locks up, poor reception, limited battery life). However, the Super Slice has been great. Most importantly, Virgin Mobile offers an unlimited voice plan for $79 per month. That's cheaper than other phones that require a 2-year contract. Why do people sign 2-year contracts for more money than it costs without a contract?
AWSOME PHONE July 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an awsome phone. It has a camera, the service is cheap (I pay 20 buck every three monthes for 200 minutes, I don't talk much). I love everything about this phone, cheap service, games, quick recharging, long battery life, cool ring tones, and it's only 60 bucks (at target)! This phone is a very good phone and I highly suggest it for someody who is shoping for a phone.
The only complaint I have about this phone is that every once in a while the battery comes loose and I have to take it out and stick it back in.
By the way, I am not angry mom, that's my mom, don't ask me why she chose that name, I don't know.
Super Slice phone keeps FREEZING UP June 7, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Had new Super Slice phone for just three weeks, and it's time to get rid of it. Phone looks good but has buggy software. It keeps freezing up for no reason. Have to take battery out and put it back in to get phone to work. After having to do this about ten times, I did a google search using the keywords super slice freezes, and found that this is a common problem for this phone.
If you want a cell phone that doesn't freeze up every day then stay far far away from the super-slice phone.
