Decent instrument for its price December 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a nice product for the cost. I used to get lost a lot and i developed a phobia for downtowns. Now i dont have to fear going anywhere and get lost.
The only two negative sides i saw of this are 1) Cannot port the system to a bigger SD card 2) No text to speech. So the system just says turn left in 200 meters etc. It does not say the street names, but it displays them on the screen.
It sometimes slows down if we select the turn preview, but that might be because my phone is slow. I cant decide on that yet.
But all in all it is a very nice product. And great for its value too. Now i dont have to carry a buly GPS system along. I carry my cell phone everywhere anyways and now as it has GPS, i can travel anywhere without getting lost.
Works great, many features, map redraw slow October 5, 2008 A few quick words: Works great; more options than I've yet discovered (using it on my AT&T Tilt). Two issues:
- The map redraw when not in "navigation mode" is a bit slow. - Sometimes the route is recalculated for no apparent reason.
Minor nitpicks; otherwise, I like it a lot.
Excellent value. September 23, 2008 This product is an awsome value and works extremely well. For the price, I highly recommend it.
I have a Samsung Blackjack II (Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone Edition). Installation is as easy as can be. I just put the card in the micro SD slot. The interface is very intuitive, and the maps and turn by turn directions worked perfectly. I still have about 800k left on the card for photos and videos.
I will say that I have a Garmin Nuvi 360, and I wish that the XT product had spoken street names like the Nuvi 360. But that's probably too much to expect for an $80 product on my phone. Also, depending on your phone, it can take one to three minutes to pick up the GPS signal. This isn't the fault of the Garmin software, but it's something to be aware of. Standalone GPS units and built-in car units can pick up the GPS signal way faster than any phone.
So overall, I highly recommend this product if you have a Windows Mobile phone with built-in GPS.
Garmin and my Nokia N82 August 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the Mobile XT system to use with my Nokia N82 phone which has an integrated GPS unit. I have had absolutely no problem with the software. It navigated me easily through two major US Cities (San Antonio, Houston) and on long Interstate trips. Cues were right on time.
Since all of the maps are on the mini SD card, the unit continued to work even when my cell phone was out of range of a tower. Nor was I using any data network. Any updates could have been made with WiFi.
Just looking now for a European version of the same thing.
excellent product July 20, 2008 excellent product. definitely makes the smart phone much smarter and useful. has helped me see so many places which i could not even dare to go to without its guidance.
