- Indoor antenna connects to the base unit to repeat the signal and create "Cell Zone"--no physical connection to the phone is needed.
Installation Choosing the best location for installation of the Signal Antenna provides the best performance and the largest area of improved signal. We now have service inside January 4, 2009 We live in a rural area and in a bit of a hollow. Sometimes phone would ring if it was on window sill, but we had to go outside to send or receive calls, at 1-2 bars. On our roof, I registered 3 bars Tried this unit as a mid-priced possibility. I have antennae mounted 3 feet above chimney. I used a length of 3/4 inch PVC pipe with a 3/4 inch coupler on the end. The co-ax slides up the pipe, screws onto the antennae and the antennae fits perfectly into the coupler for a snug fit. I ran the co-ax through the attic, to the power strip/surge protector of my computer. The base unit is mounted on the fachia above the kitchen cabinets- a central location to the 2 story house. We now register up to 4 bars. The strength can vary greatly, and I don't know why, but we always have enough to make and receive calls. Internet access on iphones is OK, but we use the desktop computer for this anyway. It doesn't seem like there is $300 worth of stuff in the box, but you have to pay to play I guess. Now we can eliminate monthly land line fees, so it will pay for itself eventually.
Wireless Booster January 2, 2009 I received the booster quickly. I fastened the antenna to a stick to extend it as high in the attic as possible. I located the Booster in a small closet in the middle of our house. We went from a 1 bar and dropped calls to a steady 3 bars and no dropped calls in our home.
Follow the directions! January 1, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Quick background: I research almost any product I purchase by reading the online reviews and taking the "Best product ever" and the "Not worth a dime" reviews with a grain of salt, then averaging all the others. That said, I decided to purchase the Zboost 510-PCS/CEL. I live in a location where Verizon says I am between three towers (the dead zone)and where the guy with the glasses and his network team that they show on TV, won't come. I work from my house and have about 2-3 locations inside where I can make a call from with poor reception (0-1 bars are normal)with lots of dropped calls. I ordered Zboost from Amazon and received it within a few days. Because of my excitement for my new toy, I assembled the product for fun and hung the antenna out of the master bathroom window where I do have a slight signal, ran the cable through the bathroom, bedroom, down the hallway and put the booster on the 2nd floor of the foyer/staircase (center of my house) and turned it on. SWEET! We all had 2-4 bars and even a signal in the basement. I LOVE THIS THING!!
PLEASE READ THIS PART!!!!
I spent the next day running the cable through the attic, into the wall and mounted the booster in the foyer (2nd floor) and the antenna on the roof above the master bathroom. Many hours and a beautiful install later, I turned it on. NO BOOSTED SIGNAL. We were back to 0-1 bars! Why??? I again read the directions, climbed back up the ladder, unbolted the antenna and moved it back to the window....2-4 bars! Why will it work at a lower, more obscure location and not high on the roof? I scratched my head and then the third time through the manual read "the antenna must be at least three feet from metal (siding, pipes, etc)". I had mounted the bottom of the antenna right against the fascia....Aluminum!
I used the same size PVC pipe as the Zboost antenna, cut it to 3.5 feet and glued them together and remounted. Turned the system back on and it was back to 2-4 bars!!! Back in business!
NOW.....the reason I say this is if I had mounted the antenna and unit without first "testing it", like the manual suggests, I would have been very disappointed and would have written a negative review on the product. READ THE MANUAL....more than once if necessary. :-)
We have been using it now for a week and I have to say "I love it". Hope this helps!
It does work but it is not easy to set up December 28, 2008 Until we got the zboost set up we could not get service at all in the house. This is not good because I have clients trying to reach me on my cell phone. I needed to at least be able to check messages on my cell. I could get one and maybe two bars outside on my balcony of my two story house. By setting up the zboost in my office with the antenae at the hightest peak of a catherdral ceiling. I am now able to get one and sometimes two bars inside sitting at my desk with the amplifier next to me.
If you can put your antenae outside it works much better. We just didn't want to do this and it works good enough for us as it is. This instructions and support were not very good. That is why I only give it 4 stars. After we figured everything out on our own we understood what they were saying.
works but not well December 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
