Amazon.com Product Description At first glance, the Samsung Juke looks like a typical stick-style MP3 player, which it is. But swing open the swiveling cover and you'll find a shiny keypad underneath that unlocks the advanced cellular features of this amazingly compact phone. It's a great way to combine two devices into one, with the Juke offering 2 GB of internal memory and compatibility with a wide variety of digital audio formats. It also features USB connectivity for transferring music from your PC, stereo Bluetooth for streaming to wireless headphones, integrated GPS, a VGA camera, and downloadable games, ringtones, and wallpapers from Verizon's Get It Now over-air service. In addition to teal, the Samsung Juke also comes in red and blue.
Offering powerful digital audio playback features, the Samsung Juke swivels to open up a wide array of cellular communication tools, including text/IM messaging and GPS navigation. | | Verizon Service This phone is compatible with Verizon's Get It Now wireless pay-per-download service, which features application downloads, games and productivity tools. You can also personalize your handset with ringtone downloads using the Get It Now service. With this GPS-enabled phone, you'll be able to access Verizon's VZ Navigator service (additional charges applicable) for voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, heads-up alerts, local search of nearly 14 million points of interest in the US (such as landmarks, restaurants and ATMs), and detailed color maps. And Verizon's Chaperone service lets you easily locate your loved ones from your Verizon Wireless phone or PC in real time. After defining a zone, such as an area designating a school or summer camp, you'll be sent an alert via text message when the Chaperone handset enters or leaves the zone. Note that this phone is not compatible with either Verizon's V Cast music or Mobile Web services Phone Features The Samsung Juke functions flawlessly as a full-featured digital audio player. A navigation thumb wheel on the front allows for easy searching through music play lists, contacts and settings. The 1.45-inch TFT LCD has a 128 x 220-pixel resolution, support for 262K colors, and displays 10 lines of text. The 2 GB flash memory capacity will hold approximately 500 CD-quality songs, and it's compatible with MP3, AAC/AAC+, and WMA/WMA Pro file formats. You can create and manage playlists on the fly, synchronize music from your PC to the phone, and multi-task using other functions on the phone while listening to your tunes. You can listen to music via the on-board speaker or the included color-matched stereo headset. Other features include a choice of music skins (visualizer or album artwork) and preset equalizer and 3D sound settings.
Amazingly thin and light, the Samsung Juke measures just 1.2 inches wide and weighs 2.82 ounces. | This phone also provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity with the A2DP Bluetooth profile, which enables you to stream music to compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones or speakers. It also includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, audio/video remote control, and serial port/object push for vCard. A little flick of the thumb and the display spins up to reveal all the keys you need to dial, text, take pictures or almost anything else you want to do. Support is built in for text messaging and mobile IM. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for entering text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. You can also snap photos on the go with the integrated VGA camera, which can capture images in three resolutions (640 x 480, 320 x 240, and 160 x 120 pixels) with variable quality settings. Pretty good phone, has some unusual quirks January 5, 2009 I've had this phone for about 2 months now. Overall, I'm liking this phone, but I feel compelled to write a review because of a few major issues that would probably affect someone's decision on this phone:
Issues: - Does NOT have an audible alert/beep when you miss a phone call. I checked the samsung website and they state there is no option for setting your phone so that you will get a beep every few minutes after you miss a phone call. This is pretty annoying because I feel like this is a very practical function and every other phone I've ever owned beeps at me when I miss a call. With the Juke, sometimes you'll miss a call, but you won't find out unless you go look at your phone or the person leaves you a voicemail and you set a voicemail alert. - Sometimes this phone will open up by itself in your pocket/purse. It hasn't been happening very often, but it does happen sometimes, which is kind of annoying. - Speakerphone is pretty quiet and sometimes extremely difficult to hear the other person, worse performance than my previous phone, the motorola krzr. - The camera is placed where you would naturally put your hand if you were trying to hold up the phone to take a picture, which is dumb because then you have to awkwardly slide your hand down in order to take a picture.
Pros: - Nice that you can transfer music easily from your computer to your Juke. - Small, nice looking - If you have one of those old school earpieces with a mic you can plug it into the headphone jack and use that so that you don't have to hold the phone to your head.

This is a great little phone. It pairs well with the Oakley OROKR sunglasses. The pair wit a good playlist makes running fun.
It occurred to me while running with the Juke that it would be really cool if a cell phone had a glucose monitor built into it as well. Apparently there is some new optical technology that can check blood sugar. The old reliable pin prick unit could be built into a cell phone, it is tried and true, and has been on the market for years. The cell phone/glucose monitor could dial into a national database each time you test your blood sugar. This data could be compiled for you, and looked over at your next Dr. visit. An even cooler idea is to incorporate the national data from everyone using the new cell phone/glucose monitor into a large GIS database. A coordinate can be provided using cell phone tower triangulation, the health data provided by the new built in monitor, and a time stamp is placed with each dial up to the national server. The data could then be looked at nationally, and one could look for problematic areas, problematic groups, etc. What makes it cool from a GIS standpoint is the time stamp and triangulation abilities a cell phone has. With time stamped data on a coordinate, you can show trends dynamically.
Very tiny phun phone! February 1, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
The JUKE phone is a marvel of brilliance! I needed a smaller phone that could fit into my blouse pocket, and be discreet when recieving calls in places that one should not be on the phone. (Haven't we all needed to recieve a call in discretion?) This cute phone really delivers in terms of being small. If you are a person who takes good care of their possessions, and is able to handle small items with care, this phone is a good match for your cell phone needs. I don't need a clumsy PDA or bigger phone. Just basic service and the JUKE gives me that plus the music features. I love the huge 2 gig memory card which comes inside the phone for free. It also comes with a home charger, matching teal earbuds, connector cable from laptop to phone, and this JUKE will pair up with Bluetooth recievers.
That's about all I need in my day to day business at work.
I highly recommend this hot little phone. The sound quality is amazing too. I was very pleased with the performance of this sleek phone.
Try it and see how good a simple, but hardworking device can serve you.
Teal is the cutest color too, I was able to buy a Dooney & Bourke leather pouch that matches the teal impeccably! How stylish!
Fun, Cool, Small & Cute Phone December 17, 2007 11 out of 15 found this review helpful
I got this for my Mom as a gift since she desperately needed a new phone. It is easy and simple to use. Even though the phone is small, the buttons are still easy to press even for someone who has arthritis. Not to mention the fact that is is stylish (especially the color) and fun. The speaker phone works great and isn't fuzzy like some. Samsung is the best brand of phone so it is no surprise to me that this phone does its job well.
