Tracfone Service
Tracfone provides nationwide prepaid wireless service using the nation's leading cellular providers to create a national footprint covering 99 percent of the U.S. population. This gives you service everywhere cellular service is available.

You can buy bundles of minutes (which must be used within a set time limit of 90 to 365 days) from the Tracfone web site on your home PC or directly from your phone's web browser. This phone ships with a number of handy Tracfone services, including free voice mail, free caller ID, and free call waiting. And perhaps most importantly, the integrated TracFone Airtime Balance Display shows you how much airtime you've used and how much is left, so you can control your costs.

Phone Features
Weighing in at an ultra-light 3.4-ounces, the super-slim W370 fits comfortably in your hand and flips open effortlessly to reveal a large and vivid full-color 128 x 160 screen and streamlined keypad. Instead of an external LCD, the W370 sports a series of unique, light-up icons that signal new messages, low battery, and other events. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad. Use the phone's stereo-compatible 2.5mm headset jack with your favorite stereo earphones or handsfree headset. Lastly, charging and USB data connectivity can be found on the bottom edge of the phone.

The W370's internal phonebook can hold up to 100 contacts and includes picture phonebook options. The phone also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. There's even an included application, MotoMixer, that lets you mix your own ringtones, while the built-in, office-quality speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear.

Delivering a full suite of organizational features, the Motorola W370 makes juggling business and pleasure seamless. You can manage your schedule via the included calendar and alarm clock, keep track of colleagues with vCard capabilities, or host a meeting over the integrated speakerphone. You can even transfer media files such as pictures and polyphonic ringtones from your PC through the phone's supported USB cable option. There's even an included currency converter.

The W370 is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound, and video via messages. There's also a built-in WAP 2.0 Web browser for fast mobile Web browsing. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Other features include:

  • 1.5 MB of internal memory
  • Stopwatch
  • Speakerphone
  • Picture phonebook on internal screen

Vital Statistics
The Motorola W370 weighs 3.4 ounces and measures 3.90 x 1.77 x 0.73 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 7.5 hours of talk time, and up to 10 days of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/1900 GSM/GPRS frequencies.

3 out of 5 stars It's ok, but....   January 9, 2009
I basically like this phone. I am thoroughly disappointed with the fact that I can't browse the web... they charge you minutes when you try. They also charge you for ringtones that you can't download.

1 out of 5 stars Don't even think about buying from Tracfone   January 5, 2009
I bought a Motorola W370, which initially worked fine but failed to charge the second time I went to recharge it.

Three months later, after the second replacement phone and the fourth replacement sim card, I'm still trying to get a working phone. To add insult to injury, Tracfone is refusing to restore the minutes I paid for with the original phone.

Each time you contact Tracfone for technical support, expect to spend at least an hour on the phone. You will be speaking with people for whom English is not their native language, you will not be able to understand much of what they say due to the poor line quality, and the people with whom you will be speaking will have no authority to actually solve your problem. Each time you call them, you start over.

I strongly recommend not buying anything from Tracfone. If you do buy a phone from them and end up with any kind of problem, just throw the phone away and move on. If you go into it understanding that a phone from Tracfone is an unsupported product and you didn't really need a phone anyway, a W370 from Tracfone may be just the product you're looking for.

5 out of 5 stars Motorola TracFone W370 and W376 cellphones.   December 26, 2008
Unfortunately, these two excellent cellphones are apparently no longer available on Amazon.com. Before I could order the W376g, from AMZ, they dropped it. In a way it was good for me as the price from TracFone.com was $10 less and included double minutes for life of phone. Price: $29.99 plus shipping. The main differences between the two phones are the W376g has a camera with 4X zoom that works quite well and the phonebook holds 500 entries. This appears to be a very well made unit and all of the functions work as advertised. I highly recommend this phone. Be sure to read the various descriptions carefully before ordering so as not to be expecting a Cadillac for the price of a Chevvy. On TracFone's web site you may access the owners manual if you want the fine points of this phone.

5 out of 5 stars Works great for me!   December 10, 2008

I've had this phone for about six months now, and I'm very satisfied with it. I am a very specialized user: I use this mobile phone to make telephone calls. I've not used it to browse the Web or do anything else except make telephone calls. I've not fussed around with backgrounds or ringtones, or have I tried to modify the phone or make it do anything else except make telephone calls. I've ignored all features of the phone except those that support making voice telephone calls. I'm grateful it has as few features as it does have--I specifically wanted a phone that does NOT have a camera or an MP3 player or anything else.

I'm very grateful that Motorola and Tracfone have provided a phone for the niche market of people who want to have a reliable mobile phone to make telephone calls.

4 out of 5 stars Love everything about it except   November 4, 2008
I found out that you cannot change the time from daylight savings to regular for the season. You can change the time from analog to digital but that's it. I called wherever the heck Tracfone's customer service people reside--I believe he said Malaysia--he talked so fast I still don't have a clue what he said, but he was reading from a bunch of papers given him to appease the Tracfone cell phone caller. I was pleased that I had called on another phone because it took so long I would have used up all of my minutes waiting for the horrible experience to get over!!! I was not happy with Tracfon's customer service event and did not get an answer to my question--representative apparently couldn't find it either! This morning I got an E-Mail from Tracfone telling me they were happy my question had been answered adequately and thanking me for my inquiry. Love the phone, am happy with everything but their customer service. I have now realized that for 6 months I will have the incorrect time on my cell phone, but won't have to change when daylight savings time rolls around!!! I'm thinking now about calling Motorola to see if they might have an answer to my question.
