I can hear you now. November 5, 2008 This is my first Scala and my second bluetooth headset. I had a Motorolla (can not remember the model, one of the low ends) that went the way of the laundry machine and wanted a replacement. I chose the 700LX because Cardo has a reputation of making some of the loudest headsets on market for a low price.
Pros: This headset does as promised. It is loud enough to hold a conversation while driving (something the Motorolla failed miserably at), and my car is middling at the road noise decibel range. I find the ear loop comfortable (medium sized head), and it does not feel like it is going to fall off every time I tilt my head. The tech support was friendly and they replaced my unit with no fuss (see below).
Cons: I had two DOAs from Amazon. The battery was a dud in both of them. I sent the first back to Amazon, then sent the second dud to Cardo, who replaced it with a working unit. Keeping the headset connected to the phone in standby drained the battery within a day, so that was disappointing. The USB connection for charging is proprietary, so you will need to keep all those extra chargers out.
Overall, I like this unit. I have not had it long enough to see if it falls apart after a year.
REALLY GREAT! I can hear in my car, and EVERYONE can hear me fine November 1, 2008 This is my first bluetooth headset. I did some research on Amazon to see which one I should chose. This unit, even with its mixed reviews, was most liked by customers who had purchased it over the others I was researching. They mentioned most often that Hearing/being heard was its strong suit. They were right! From day 1 I love how CLEARLY I HEAR MY CALLS AND CALLERS HEAR EVERYTHING I AM SAYING even in my car. People tell me there is little difference in the sound from when I am speaking directly into the phone. So CHEERS that is fabulous and my main concern. It is easy to connect with your phone, (I had a RazorV3 and am about to connect it to a LG Shine) it has a great battery life and is easy to charge. Its very user friendly. I would say if there is any down side it is that the earpiece could be a little more secure feeling. It took me a few uses to find that perfect setting for my ear and I still feel that if I swung my head around really fast, it might fly off. The earpiece itself is kind of wimpy and a man might not like it as well? Although it might actually fit a man better and feel light and secure. The device is very light and you dont notice it too much on your ear. The back side just rests inside the edge of your ear, not intrusive at all. I am really satisfied, and when my husband tried it on he seemed to think it wasnt so bad either, and he totally hates bluetooth headsets. I think this is a great product especially for the price.
Lots of background noise, doesn't fit well October 29, 2008 This headset was a bit of a disappointment as it has a lot of background noise, sounds a little fuzzy and doesn't stay snug to the ear.
still don't have a working headset October 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered this as I have had the cardo 500 and found it to be good value. My 700 LX arrived and would not take a charge. Returned it and got another. Same problem. Cardo says send it back to them (and pay my own postage) and they will send me a working one. I'm thinking maybe I will just get something else. Fed up with wasting money on postage and time going to post office.
Somthing's Wrong With This Unit October 11, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I perchased a SCALA 500 years ago... Loved it! Lost it. Went to Amazon to replace the 500. I was pleased that they were still making them and ordered another one. I saw that the company had a newer SCALA 700LX. A little smaller, sleek design, thought I would buy one for my travels. When I received it, I charged it for the number of hours as discribed in the owner's manual. It would not come on. It simply would not work. The only mode that would activate was the sync mode. I was able to sync up to my Razor phone, but the headset simply would not turn on to link to the phone for normal use. Sent it back for replacment. The second one - same thing... it simply would not turn on. I sent it back. Although the company was good about taking the units back and giving me credit, I'm out about $18.00 in return shipping. I would recommend staying with the SCALA 500 until they figure out what is wrong with the newer model. The 500, in my opinion, the most comfortable multifeatured, on the ear, headset out there. The secret is the ear loop goes THROUGH the untit and has friction. Once you put it on, you press it to your ear and it doesn't move. No flopping around, no falling off. And for under $40.00.
