This Bluetooth headset is awesome! January 8, 2009 This is the best wireless headset I've found. I run alot & this headset us great because the sound is excellent & there's no wires to get in your way. Excellent product!
Pretty good, but not quite perfect January 6, 2009 My favorite thing about these is their versatility. This isn't the best phone headset out there but it's pretty good. It also isn't the best bluetooth stereo headset out there, but again it's pretty good (for bluetooth stereo, anyway). It comes with one earhook that has the other earbud integrated into it as well as a couple of other different sized hooks without the extra earbud for use as a conventional phone headset. It paired just fine with my Blackberry Curve, though the range was a little disappointing at around 15 feet (this is rarely an issue in my ordinary usage). The music does occasionally cut out momentarily even with the phone in my pocket if I'm wearing alot of winter clothing, but not anywhere enough to kill my listening pleasure. If you want a truly hi fidelity experience, Bluetooth A2DP probably isn't the way to go, but for casual listening on my commute, it fits the bill just right. As for the headset capabilities, the volume is plenty loud enough. People on the other end say that the sound is a bit tinny, but perfectly legible (note that extending the boom mic is a must for good quality).
poor design January 2, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I (also like others here) could not get these to fit correctly on the electronics side since the extension for the ear gel points down at such a severe angle and the speaker tube seems overly large. Hard plastic seems to touch my ear canal even though it does not seem possible. Also the sound of the scratchy cloth covered cord rubbing against your collar is overpowering because of the in-ear gels.
The technology seems to be focused on voice rather than music. Even while holding the boom side against my ear to get a seal, the sound for music is horrible (relative to my Sony Ericsson HBH-DS980 Bluetooth Streaming Headset. It is very hollow and tinny sounding; not full like you expect for music. I was about to return the headset when I read a review mentioning the possibility of using Etymotic ear gels so I am considering keeping this headset as a phone call only set for the car.
Unusable because won't stay in ear January 1, 2009 After extensive researching, I picked out this headset as having all my desired features, especially being in-ear because I wear glasses. However, though I bought it in February of '08, I've never been able to use it because it won't stay in my ear. And the optional over-ear loop is not adjustable and is too far from my ear to loop over it. Due to other reviews, I researched Etymotics & ordered some of their ear gels, trying the extra small because all 4 kinds Plantronics included popped back out of my ear after 2-3 seconds. Finally the Etymotics arrived, but though they would stay in for about 5 seconds, they'd also pop out, making the headset unusable.
Of course, by the time I went through all these efforts, over a month had passed and it was too late to return the headset. So I've had the 855 for over 10 months and have never been able to use it. That makes it impossible for me to review any of the features. But I spent the money I'd saved for this purchase and can't afford to buy another headset. It's very discouraging and disappointing. I'd very much appreciate if anyone can give me suggestions about eargels I might buy that are even-smaller than Etymotics extra-smalls or just ones that conform (like foam) so they won't pop right back out. Thanks for any advice you can offer. And Happy New Year, everyone! ~Bonita
iphone does not have stereo music only voice December 27, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
works great with Blackberry but iphone has a problem that Apple is working on a software patch. iphone only sends the voice via the stereo but the music is only sent over to bluetooth mono. apparently Apple has to get a clue that people want their music stereo through bluetooth!
